The Cottage at Christmas

Well, our cottage is pretty much all ready for Christmas! We've got our tree up and decorated and there are touches of Christmas all around our home. Here's a little tour of our cottage this Christmas...

Here's the kitchen. I love how it looks right now with all the greenery!
Below are my paperwhites in bloom and our Christmas countdown!

This is the living room where our tree is. On the coffee table I put some cinnamon scented pinecones and hanging in one the frames above the couch are some Christmas balls.

In the picture below, you can see a burlap wreath that I made using some cardboard and burlap scraps.

Here's a close-up of our tree. The popcorn garlands are from when I was a kid!

Here's our computer desk with a few decorations. The two little trees to the left of the computer are from Etsy. I got them last year and I love them. They are so cute!

Here's a little close up of our mantel in the dining room.

And that is how our cottage looks this Christmas! Have you all finished your decorating? What do you have to do before Christmas arrives? I've still got some baking and knitting to finish, so I better get to it!

Christmas Cushion Winner and a Sneak Peek!

Thank you to everyone who commented and entered in the giveaway! I loved hearing about all of your favourite Christmas decorations. Though, Daniel 'Rules' Kang's comment sounded suspiciously like A Christmas Story. One of my favourite Christmas decorations is a little walnut that had a face painted on it and a little Santa touque and it sat in the tree looking rather mischievous.

Anyway, last night I drew the names for the Christmas cushion cover and the winner is Allison! I'll be sending the cushion cover her way tomorrow!

Yesterday, Patrick and I bought and decorated our tree, so I'll be giving you a little tour of our Christmas decorations soon, but for now, here is a sneak peek...

Christmas Cushion Giveaway!

I've been doing some thinking and I'd really like the Christmas Stripes cushion I made recently to be enjoyed by someone this Christmas!  You know those Christmas specials where there's a toy that doesn't have a home for Christmas and you feel so unbelievably sorry for it? Like in the old Rudolph movie where there is the land of misfit toys. It's the same kind of thing here, except that I'm attaching emotions to a cushion that has no home for Christmas. Therefore, to remedy my sadness for this poor cushion, I've decided to give it away on my blog!

I made this cushion using one I saw in Sarah Richardson's country home as inspiration. You can read more about that here. The cover is made from a natural cotton and the stripes are different ribbons sewn to the front. The bottom is closed with a zipper. This giveaway includes only the cushion cover and it will fit a 16x24" insert.

If you would like to enter into this giveaway, simply leave a comment on this post (be sure to leave your name) telling me what your favourite Christmas decoration is. The contest will be open until Sunday at 10pm and then I will randomly pick a winner to be announced on Monday! I will ship the package out right away so that the cushion can add some holiday cheer to the winner's home before Christmas arrives.

Enjoy your weekend and don't forget to comment to enter the giveaway!

Welcoming December

I can hardly believe that we are already into our second day of December! It really hit me the other night and I realized how much I still want to do before Christmas. This year, both my husband's and my parents are coming to visit us here, so I want our home to be extra festive seeing as how Christmas day will be spent in our little cottage. It will be cramped, but so cozy and I can't wait!

Anyway, once I realized that December was nearly upon us (this was a couple of days ago) I decided that I had better bring out the Christmas decorations. I'm still working on decorating, but I thought I'd share a few of the photos that are inspiring me this year. I'm going for a more natural themed Christmas, but all of these photos are lovely.

Patrick and I are planning to buy our tree on the weekend and I am so excited. This is our first year having a real tree!  I'll be posting some photos of our decorations soon. Have you already got your decorations up? Are you doing anything new this year with your decorating?

All photos are from Country Living.
